Roger Federer US Open Champion for the 5th Consecutive time
Roger Federer went on to win his fifth consecutive US Open Grand Slam Tennis title, when he defeated the 6th Seed Andy Murray of Britain in straight sets in the US Open Finals at New York.
Andy Murray upset top seed Rafal Nadal in the semi finals, and I was expecting a tough fight in the finals between Andy Murray and Roger Federer. But in the end it was a straight sets victory for Roger Federer - the final scores read 6-2, 7-5, 6-2.
The Swiss Champion and second seed Roger started well in the opening set, Andy Murray did offer some resistance in the second set - but the Swiss was too good overall and he wrapped up the victory in one hour 51 minutes.
The history between the Roger Federer and Andy Murray was slightly different as the British top seed defeated Roger Federer 2 out of 3 times in the past.
With this victory Roger Federer equaled the record of American Bill Tilden (1924), of winning the US Open Grand Slam 5 times in a row. This was Federer's first Grand slam of the year - and he is very close to equaling Pete Sampras record of 14 Grand Slam titles.
