Shawn Johnson wins Olympic Gymnastics Gold

Shawn Johnson wins Olympic Gymnastics Gold

It was a dream come true for American teenage Gymnast Shawn Johnson, when she won the Gold in Balance Beam Final edging past her fellow team mate Nastia Liukin.

This Beijing Olympics would have been incomplete for Shawn if she had missed out on this Gold. She already won 3 silver medals in these summer games - in the team event, all around and floor exercise events.

Bela Karolyi jumped from his seat and was very excited on Shawn's performance.

Shawn Johnson said "It feels amazing to finish off the last routine of my Olympic experience with gold. It means everything in the world"

She also said that it was gratifying for her to get gold for her coaches, Liang Chow and Liwen Zhuang, former gymnasts in China.

Nastia Liukin, the all-around champion, took silver at 16.025 for her fifth medal in this Beijing games. Bronze went for hosts team's Fei Cheng .

Gymnast Shawn Johnson's performance today was with a great determination and was a daring, difficult routine that gained 16.225 points by the judges.

I missed out watching this event on TV, but I am sure NBC would have telecasted Shawn Johnson's LIVE winning performance, as Gymnastics and Swimming would have been the most liked and watched LIVE Olympic events NBC.

Abhinav Bindra Wins first Olympic Gold for India

Abhinav Bindra wins 10m air rifle gold for India in Beijing Olympics

India made history today by winning its first ever individual Gold Medal for India. 25 year old shooter Abhinav Bindra has won 10m Air Rifle Gold in the undergoing Beijing Olympics in China.

This is the first Gold medal for the country as all the previous medals were in Team Events (Hockey), last year in Athens Greece, Rajvardhan Singh Rathore had won the Silver medal for India.

Indian Hockey didnt make it to the olympics qualifying round this time and this was very dis-appointing. This win by Abhinav Bindra has compensated for everything and whatever happens to the other events doesnt matter any more.

Kindly join me in congratulating and telling thanks to Abhinav Bindra for the greatest achievement in Indian sports.
